Scrapstore has 15 years experience of facilitating creative art and play workshops for children and young people.

Scrapstore provides workshops that:

  • encourage and develop creative minds.
  • give children access to a wide range of inspiring reclaimed resources that would otherwise go to landfill.
  • are an opportunity to work alongside artists
  • create a stimulating environment where children can be adventurous, use their imaginations and have fun whilst trying gout their own ideas.
  • are inclusive and give support for children working at different levels.
  • develop an understanding of the value of re-using materials.
  • develop an appreciation of the environment and environmental issues.
  • make creations in 2D, 3D on a large or small scale.
  • use appropriate language for creative activity.
  • promote independent thinking as well as cooperative working.

Themed creative workshops

Tailor made creative sessions (key stage 1 & 2)

These are designed specifically to your own requested theme.

Whole School events

Working to a theme of your choice we can work with the whole School on one day or over a few days.

Examples of whole School events facilitated so far are:

  • Chinese dragon
  • Waste week
  • Christmas crafts

Scrap World Africa/North American Indian

(Key stage 2, maximum of 30 children)

Using an appropriate story as a thread, children go on a cultural journey of song and movement accompanied by percussion.  Objects made during a creative art session are then used in a celebratory finale. 4 hour session (can be a 2 hour session).

Singing and percussion

Experience a world of music through singing, percussion and movement. Children make own percussion instruments to be used in the finale. 4 hour session (can be a 2 hour session).

Creative Journey

(key stage 2)

Children work in small groups to develop their own stories. They make costumes and props that describe their story. Children perform their story to the rest of the group at the end of the day. 4 hour session.

Transition workshops

(Year 6)

Specifically designed for year 6 pupils. Children have an opportunity to focus on the idea of change. Creative activities are used to focus on physical and emotional change in an informal and enjoyable way.4 hour session (can be a 2 hour session).

Family Sessions

(Key stage 1 & 2, can be after School hours)

Informal and fun creative sessions for parents and children to engage in creative activity together. A lot of playing and learning takes place.
